Choosing a LenderAs an eligible student or parent, you are free to choose the lender you wish to work with. The choice is entirely yours and must be made before your loan(s) can be funded. To be eligible for federal loans you must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the appropriate academic year. You may do so by completing the application on the FAFSA on the Web site. The Financial Aid Office recommends that students and parents try to borrow conservatively and budget expenses throughout the year whenever possible.
